Welcome to the New Federation

July 10, 2013

As you may have noticed, over the past month, we’ve been rolling out a number of exciting changes to our communications. Thanks to the support of several key donors, the Federation added Jace Woodrum, a seasoned communications operative, to our team in June. Since his arrival, we’ve been able to launch critical initiatives to help tell the story of the Federation, our members, and the people who are powering the state-based movement.

First, we’ve launched a new-and-improved website. Our blog, The Latest, is updated almost daily with news, information, resources, and commentary. Read about the groundbreaking work our members are doing; get your hands on fact sheets and other tools; and learn more about our initiatives on nondiscrimination, immigration reform, safe schools, and more.

Second, we’ve tweaked our brand. Fresh new colors and a more exciting style has breathed new life into the trusted Federation brand. You’ll see our new look reflected on our engaging Facebook page, our Twitter profile, and across all our communications mediums, both online and offline.

Third, we’ve rolled out a new email program. To streamline our communications, we’ve created a smart strategy for communicating with folks by email. For members, we’ve unveiled States of Equality, a weekly newsletter that’s overflowing with useful news and information. And when news just can’t wait for each Thursday’s installation of States of Equality, we send out timely member alerts. For friends of the Federation, we’ve created State by State, a twice monthly newsletter that’s full of the latest highlights from our work and our members’ many achievements.

Our new and improved communications strategies are all focused around one goal: to better tell the story of the state-based movement for equality. Every day, state leaders are making critical progress toward creating a fair and just nation, and every day, the Federation is working to ensure that they have access to the support, tools, and resources they need to win.
