Member Opportunity: The Trevor Project Needs Your Help Recruiting for Their Youth Advisory Council

November 19, 2013

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.

The organization is seeking youth to be a part of their Youth Advisory Council (YAC), a program comprised of 20 young people ages 16-24 that will advise the organization on outreach and programmatic efforts targeted at LGBTQ youth. Their YAC convenes monthly via conference call and serves as a liaison between youth nationwide and The Trevor Project, as it relates to young people and the issues surrounding suicide, sexuality and gender identity.

The YAC submits recommendations to The Trevor Project in an effort to increase Trevor visibility and best serve the LGBTQ youth population. Participants in the YAC will have the unique opportunity to have their voices and opinions heard and implemented into the strategies of a national organization.

The Trevor Project requests the help of Federation members in recruiting youth for their next Youth Advisory Council. Please share this link with LGBTQ youth in your state who may want to get involved in creating change nationwide. The deadline to apply is December 31st, 2013.
