About Us

Winning equality in communities we call home.

We are seeing unprecedented momentum in the national movement to secure equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans.

Still, the greatest opportunities for policy victories that improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people are in the states — where the work is hard but the impact is great.

At Equality Federation, we believe change is possible in every community. That’s why we empower local leaders to build a strong movement for equality that secures critical grassroots wins at every level.

As the strategic partner to a robust network of state-based organizations that are advancing equality in the communities we call home -- Equality Federation provides critical expertise and support to members who are adapting to a changing landscape that demands smart investment and political know-how to overcome shrinking but increasingly savvy opposition.

Since 1997, we have worked throughout the country to build the leaders of today and tomorrow, strengthen state-based LGBT organizations, and make critical progress on the issues that matter most. Learn more about our programs.
