Summer Meeting 2014 is just a few weeks away, and we only have a few spots left for Wednesday’s FREE crash course in the basics of effective management.With support from Arcus Foundation, we’re bringing in our friends from The Management Center to share their Managing to Change the World training with Summer Meeting participants.

Today, Equality Federation Institute released What’s Next: Building Strong LGBTQ Organizations Beyond the Marriage Milestone. This report carefully considers what effective advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) equality looks like after winning marriage for same-sex couples.

From critical victories in legislatures to historic wins in the courts to huge jumps in the polls — we’ve had unstoppable momentum for marriage equality these past few years. We’re closer than we’ve ever been to winning the freedom to marry for all couples all across this country.

Research shows that students of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students are more likely to be disciplined than their White, non-LGBTQ peers. Students with intersectional identities, such as Black transgender youth or gay undocumented youth, are at even greater risk.

Houston Unites is the coalition of local, state and national organizations working to defend Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO).

Competitive Arizona, a coalition of organizations, is seeking a qualified Statewide Field Director to manage a statewide field operations campaign informing and engaging residents of Arizona about the importance of passing a statewide nondiscrimination statute. The Statewide Field Director will work with the Campaign Manager and Field/Outreach Working Group to implement Competitive Arizona’s Field/Outreach plan.

Competitive Arizona is working to support a stronger transgender movement in Arizona and better integrate transgender issues and activists throughout Competitive Arizona’s work for LGBT equality.

This Summer, Equality Federation partnered with organizations and leaders across the nation in a new project called Our Tomorrow. This project was created to help LGBT organizations and funders engage with each other and the LGBT community to be sure all our voices are lifted up as we begin to chart the course ahead in our work to secure full equality.
