Research shows that students of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students are more likely to be disciplined than their White, non-LGBTQ peers. Students with intersectional identities, such as Black transgender youth or gay undocumented youth, are at even greater risk.

Competitive Arizona, a coalition of organizations, is seeking a qualified Statewide Field Director to manage a statewide field operations campaign informing and engaging residents of Arizona about the importance of passing a statewide nondiscrimination statute. The Statewide Field Director will work with the Campaign Manager and Field/Outreach Working Group to implement Competitive Arizona’s Field/Outreach plan.
Competitive Arizona is working to support a stronger transgender movement in Arizona and better integrate transgender issues and activists throughout Competitive Arizona’s work for LGBT equality.
This Summer, Equality Federation partnered with organizations and leaders across the nation in a new project called Our Tomorrow. This project was created to help LGBT organizations and funders engage with each other and the LGBT community to be sure all our voices are lifted up as we begin to chart the course ahead in our work to secure full equality.
On Monday, January 7th, Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order banning discrimination against LGBTQ state employees and Wisconsin’s Governor Tony Evers signed an executive order expanding nondiscrimination protections to transgender state employees.

On a cold December night in Chicago, Fran Hutchins, our deputy director, and I hustled from our hotel to dinner with four executive directors who’ve stepped up to lead in their states in 2018. We’d just wrapped up the first of two intensive days of training at our New Executive Director Boot Camp.
