Vashti Selix is the Advocacy & Civic Engagement Strategist at Equality Federation. In this role, Vashti works with member organizations to develop plans for integrated voter engagement and sustain year-round organizing programs.
Vashti has spent the last nine years dedicated to both issue-based campaigns and longer-term movement work centered around creating change at the individual, institutional, and systemic levels. Vashti is most proud of their roles as the Civic Engagement Director with the Oregon Student Association where they led a voter registration drive that registered 55,000 students across the state to vote and as the Deputy Field Director for the Yes on 3 campaign in Massachusetts where they worked alongside their colleague, Vivian, to secure critical nondiscrimination protections for transgender people.
Vashti grew up in the Midwest but bounced around the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast over the last decade before finally settling down in Brooklyn, NY with their partner, Genna, and their tiny, scruffy dog, Wuta.
Location: Brooklyn, New York
With your support, we'll be able to continue our work to build the leaders of today and tomorrow, strengthen state-based LGBTQ+ organizations, and make critical progress on the issues that matter most—like protecting transgender people, ending HIV criminalization and ensuring access to care, and banning conversion therapy across the country.
