Equality Pennsylvania’s
mission is to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Pennsylvanians
through coalition building, education, organizing, and policy reform. Equality Pennsylvania
seeks to be the preeminent LGBT advocacy organization for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
and work collaboratively to establish a comprehensive network of individuals
and organizations united in securing equal rights for the LGBT community.
Equality Pennsylvania
has been instrumental in changing the LGBT civil rights landscape in the state
since our founding in 1996. Founded as
the Center for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights, and later growing into Equality
Advocates Pennsylvania, Equality Pennsylvania is the only organization in the
Commonwealth advocating in Harrisburg
and across the state, exclusively for the rights of LGBT Pennsylvanians.
Equality Pennsylvania
works to secure and protect the rights of LGBT Pennsylvanians by promoting and
leading legislative initiatives on the state, county and municipal levels. Our professional staff, lobbyists, and
legislative team work with our allies in the General Assembly to shape and pass
positive legislation in Harrisburg
and to beat back discriminatory legislation.
Equality Pennsylvania has led the fight
for equal protection for LGBT citizens in Pennsylvania, and collaborates with
organizations, both local and statewide, across the Commonwealth.
Our educational and outreach activities have reached over 25,000 people
throughout the state.
