Equality Federation recognizes Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA) for their incredible accomplishments, including the passage of over 100 pieces of legislation that advanced LGBTQ equality. For 25 years the ESPA team was at the forefront of the movement, often achieving wins that paved the way for other states and inspiring the nation. We are sad to see the organization close, but we know that with this news comes opportunity to learn, grow, and hopefully strengthen our movement through new partnerships.
We remain dedicated to seeing LGBTQ New Yorkers and their families protected under the law. There is more to be done, and we know that many people are working very hard to address LGBTQ youth homelessness, violence and discrimination against transgender and gender nonconforming people, HIV and health, criminalization, and more. Indeed, we must vigorously address issues that disproportionately impact communities of color, and we stand ready and willing to help.
